From June 25 to 29, the 4th Runxin Core Skills Competition "Nursing at Home" Innovative Skills Competition and the 2026 International Nurses Day series of activities of CR Healthcare successfully concluded in Xi'an. More than 150 nursing backbone professionals from 20 medical institutions participated in the event.

This event has constructed an integrated closed loop of "learning, practicing, competing, innovating, and applying". It integrated six diverse formats including skill competitions, theoretical assessments, expert lectures, "Party building "&study tours, action learning, and narrative nursing workshops, covering nursing personnel at all levels to comprehensively forge the professional capabilities of the nursing team.

The competition was divided into two major groups. One group is tertiary hospitals and another group is non-tertiary hospitals. The exam questions have been comprehensively updated and upgraded with over 69% were newly created, which focused on core knowledge such as full-cycle health management, home care, and risk prevention and control. The practical assessment focused on essential skills including intravenous blood collection, emergency response in home settings, and interpersonal communication. Liu Xiaomei, Director of the Nursing Department of Shaanxi Provincial People's Hospital, was specially invited as an on-site judge to ensure the professionalism and standardization of the event. This competition selected a total of 24 "Runxin" position experts and 96 "Excellence Award" winners.

We invited Zhang Yulian, a nationally renowned nursing expert, to deliver a special lecture on the "15th Five-Year Plan for Nursing Development" and interpret the industry's top-level planning. Ren Yanping, Director of the Nursing Department at Xi'an First Hospital, lectured on the implementation of the "nursing at home" policy and specific practices of home-based nursing and recuperation. Two sessions of narrative nursing workshops delved into humanistic nursing services. The "Party Building " visit activity promoted the deep integration of Party building and nursing services. Through action learning, a special seminar was held to sort out three excellent "nursing at home" implementation plans that can be promoted system-wide.

At the award ceremony, Vice President Zhang Bing put forward specific requirements for all hospitals. He emphasized that the leaders in charge of each medical institution and the directors of the nursing departments should take the lead to review their shortcomings in light of the content of this competition, training, and action learning, and formulate a special improvement list for home care for the "15th Five-Year Plan" of their respective units, clarify implementation measures and completion deadlines, and make up for the shortcomings in the development of extended care outside the hospital.

First, we should adhere to hospital-wide coordination and multi-departmental synergy. we should unblock the entire chain of outpatient processes, risk prevention and control, online follow-ups, and material supplies. Second, we should persist in practical training, relying on real home-based scenarios and actual risk cases to hone nurses' emergency response and humanistic communication skills. third, we should implement hierarchical and differentiated development, tertiary hospitals focus on specialized technical output to empower primary care, and non-tertiary hospitals optimize home-visit processes to deeply cultivate the care needs of the elderly, chronically ill, and disabled populations in their jurisdictions, thereby improving the group's home nursing service system through dual tracks.
