On July 30, 53 middle and senior managers from CR Healthcare Headquarters and more than 20 branches attended CR Healthcare’s first centralized senior management training course in the beautiful and quiet Baiyangdian Campus at China Resources University. As CR Healthcare’s leadership development program, the training course has been strongly supported by all levels of CR Healthcare leaders under careful guidance of the CR Healthcare Human Resources Department. With teaching activities encompassing four aspects, “themed meetings,” “Outward Bound,” “life maps,” and “self-cognition,” the training helped the trainees achieve teaching objectives, e.g. team effectiveness was strengthened, management skills were promoted and improved, and personal ability was converted to organizing ability.
On July 31, the training course carried out a one-day Outward Bound team training exercise. In this Outward Bound training, there was not only an island survival program requiring a cooperative team spirit, but also a Desert Gold Program requiring team decision-making abilities. By fulfilling these tasks, the trainees enhanced their mutual understanding and built trust through a relaxing and happy process. In the “life map” activity, all trainees showed the highlights and turning points of their lives, reviewed and shared their different life experiences in the process of drawing, and explaining their life maps, which motivated everyone’s enthusiasm and inspiration for life and living. The exercise made everyone experience CR Healthcare’s cultural mandate of “caring for people, cultivating people, and developing people.”
On August 1, the training course held a brief opening ceremony. CR Healthcare Chairman He Xuan, General Manager Chen Gang, Deputy Chairman and Deputy General Manager Wang Dekun, Deputy General Manager and Secretary of Commission for Discipline Inspection Wang Jieyang, Deputy General Manager Guo Yi, Deputy General Manager Yang Xudong, and Chief Financial Officer Li Zhile were invited to attend the opening ceremony. At the beginning, Chairman He Xuan required all trainees to really focus on the conversion from personal ability to organizing ability in order to lay a talent foundation through CR Healthcare development, and expressed his wish that trainees will be able to learn, think, and succeed in the training course.
During three days of learning, trainees received teacher-led Outward Bound training that helped trainees realize the importance of team cooperation and decision-making through experiential training. Under the leadership of Program Manager and Professional Instructor Jiang Meng, trainees efficiently and cheerfully finished the D-I-S-C course along a learning path of self-recognition, recognition of others, experiencing feelings, simulations, and applications as well as interactions and restatements. Trainees understood the theoretical construct of the D-I-S-C dispositional model by comparing preliminary evaluation results, mastered respective behavior tendencies caused by different dispositions at work, and learned how to judge the opposing side’s communication style through observing specific behaviors. In the end, trainees primarily mastered methods of effective communication using the D-I-S-C tool with repeated practice.
Through this three-day centralized training, trainees not only acquired knowledge and experienced CR culture, but also grew just how General Manager Chen Gang said they would at the end of the training course. He informed the group, “[in] learning to use CR organizational language, organizational interests are more important than personal interests.” At the same time, the GM also realized the standard of being a CR ‘healthy person,’ that is: being upright and kind, caring and influential to the people all around you, with your own sense of mission and responsibility.
If we compare CR Healthcare to a great ship about to embark on a forthcoming journey, all the trainees that attended the senior management training course are sailors on this great ship; we can proudly say that the goal is ahead of us and we are on our way.
